As a UNESCO creative for media arts, Enghien-les-Bains is involved into various partner-ships with media arts cities but also cities from other creative ategories, to explore the wealth of the crossings between disciplines.
This carte blanche to Mannheim, a UNESCO creative city for music, will be the opportunity to discover its cosmopolitan and vibrating electro scene.
Profoundly engraved in the history of this city, the music is perceived as an engine of artistic, economic, educational and urban development.
Since 1999, the municipality set up a global strategy so that the industry of the music is internationally recognized. Its four pillars - the Popakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg (professional education), Musikpark Mannheim (busi-ness incubator), City Commissioners for Music and Pop Culture (youth, young talent and cultural development) and Clustermanagement Musikwirtschaft (music business develop-ment) - collaborate closely and share relevant interfaces in order to create synergies, maxim-ize resources and promote the professionalization of the music sector.
Born historically in Mannheim, the Time Warp festival is an example. Gathering 40.000 peo-ple of the whole world for 22 years, this musical event, scheduling artists of the world techno scene, accompanied with spectacular scenography, is now present in Argentina, in the United States and in Holland.
