#1_PERCEPTIVE UTOPIAS

Light installation

SCIENTIFIC CHALLENGE

According to Newton's theory, the visible light must be divided into 7 primary colors to be in line with the musical harmony. Here, five black obsidians are arranged on a white bright screen.
Each has a number of specific facets, from four to twelve. By moving around the installation, we can see stones behaving as prisms, separating the light in a variable number of colors.

ARTISTIC CHALLENGE

The number of facets could increase until they reach a perfect cylinder; the spectre of colors
would appear then in a continuous way.

How many realities could live in our own perception ?

Through his installations, Flavien Thery plays with the perception of the audience. Calling upon the quantum physics and upon multivers, he envisages the light as a reality shared between an external phenomenon and a consciousness. As if the position of the spectator influenced the observed phenomenon and so allowed several realities to live together.
