In our dark and cruel world, it’s good to take a break. Katsuya Ishida has devised an installation whose obvious Japanese influences can but raise a smile.
Combining a spirit of elation and a pimped-up bicycle pump, passers-by can try their hand at making the wall in the train station transform into a star-studded sky.
Japanese artist Katsuya Ishida hails from Sapporo.
His work was discovered by the festival team during Enghien’s first trip to Sapporo, following the nomination of both towns to the UNESCO Creative Cities network for their contribution to media arts, and hopefully marks the first of many initiatives to strengthen ties between Enghien-les-Bains and its Japanese counterpart.
